The Finals Mac Solutions

The Finals is a free combat-centered game that just became fully available to play, but if you’ve got a Mac, you might have realized you can’t play it on there. However, we were determined to find some ways to get it to work on a Mac, especially since there are usually some tricks to play Windows games on Apple computers. Fortunately, after looking into all the possibilities, we figured out that, as of now, the only effective The Finals Mac solution, especially true for the newer Macs with Apple Silicon chips is cloud gaming through GeForce Now.

If you have an older Mac with an Intel processor, there’s this thing called Boot Camp that might make it possible to play, but you would need a really powerful Intel Mac, and even if you have that, the game might not play well. It could be slow or have other issues. So, for now, playing The Finals on any kind of Mac seems possible only through cloud gaming.

How to play The Finals on Mac

Here is a brief overview of the GeForce Now method, along with a link to a detailed step-by-step guide to play The Finals on Mac. If you are curious to read more about the performance we got, below is a paragraph where we share our experience.

GeForce Now

Pros

  • Access to a vast library of games.
  • High-quality graphics and performance.
  • No need for powerful local hardware.
  • Cross-platform support.

Cons

  • Requires a stable and fast internet connection.
  • Limited to supported games.
  • Potential latency issues in online games.
  • Requires a subscription for some features.

GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service that brings a bunch of games to your Mac without making it work too hard.

Note: You need to own the game before you proceed with this method. Here are links to the game for different vendors: Steam.

  • If you’re a Mac gamer, GeForce Now is a solution that lets you play loads of games, even the ones your Mac might struggle with, because all the gaming is done on powerful NVIDIA servers. That means you get great graphics and smooth play, even if your Mac is a bit older. Plus, it’s like a game passport – you can play on your Mac, switch to your PC or even your phone, and your game progress comes with you.
  • But here’s the thing to remember. GeForce Now really likes a good internet connection. If yours is a bit shaky, you might experience some game lag or glitches. Also, not all games are part of the fun, so check if your favorites are on the list. While the basic service is free, some extra perks come with a subscription fee. So, while it’s a fantastic option, make sure your internet is solid, and your favorite games are part of the GeForce Now family.

Will there be The Finals macOS Version?

It’s pretty unlikely that The Finals macOS version will be available for Mac computers anytime soon. While Apple has been trying to make its computers and software better for gaming, most game makers still don’t really want to spend the time and money to make their games work on Mac and Embark Studios, which is the team that made The Finals, seems to feel the same way. Right now, they’ve released the game for PCs, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X|S Series, but there’s no sign that they’re planning to make it for Mac users. But there’s a bit of hope. Since The Finals is available for Xbox, there’s a chance it might be added to the Xbox Cloud Gaming service in the future. If that happens, Mac users could have one more option to play this title through cloud gaming which is something to look forward to.

Can you play The Finals on Mac with GeForce Now?

With GeForce Now, we could play the PC version of The Finals on Mac, but to get the best experience, we had to go for a paid subscription. GFN does have a free version, but it limits you to only one hour of gaming at a time, and you might have to wait in a queue before you can start playing. So, we chose to pay for the service and tested it for over two hours.

The first thing we noticed was that you need an internet connection with about 25 Mbps, which we covered, and the game streamed really smoothly. We consistently got great quality with 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, just like what GeForce Now promises. There were moments when our internet was a bit unstable, but GeForce Now tried to keep the game running smoothly by lowering the image quality, and we enjoyed the gaming session without major interruptions.

Is The Finals on Mac playable with local gaming methods?

Playing The Finals on Mac using local gaming methods presents some challenges. Since the game isn’t natively available for macOS, and it features an anti-cheat system, the options are limited. Besides, this is a demanding game in terms of graphics and processing power, so you’d need a very powerful Mac, to run it effectively. So, if you have an older Mac, it’s unlikely to have a satisfactory gaming experience with any local gaming method.

The Finals MacBook Restrictions with Parallels

Having The Finals MacBook experience with Parallels Desktop won’t work for a few reasons. First, the game needs DirectX 12, but Parallels doesn’t support that. Also, the game has a feature called Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) that stops it from working on virtual machines (like what Parallels creates). Plus, the title needs a lot of power to run well, and using Parallels means your Mac can’t use all its power just for the game. So, even if these other problems didn’t exist, you’d need a super powerful Mac to play the game, and it would still be tough.

The Finals Mac OS Еxperience with Boot Camp

Technically, Boot Camp could be an effective The Finals Mac OS solution, but you’d need a really powerful and expensive Intel-based Mac to be able to play. Boot Camp lets you run Windows on a Mac, but it doesn’t work on the newest Macs with Apple Silicon chips and our research shows that only a Mac Pro or a high-end iMac might run this game, but even then, it wouldn’t play very well. If you have one of these powerful Macs and want to try Boot Camp, we have a guide that can help you.

The Finals for Mac with CrossOver

In theory, you could play The Finals for Mac using CrossOver, but there’s a big problem: the game’s Easy Anti-Cheat feature we already mentioned above. This feature stops you from playing the game when using CrossOver or similar compatibility layer apps, which, sadly, rules out this alternative.

The Finals Mac M1 Limitations with Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit

Just like with CrossOver, there are The Finals Mac M1 limitations with Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit too, and that is again because of the Easy Anti-Cheat feature. It stops the game from being played on your Mac, and there’s no way around it. We don’t think this will change in the future, so your best bet to play The Finals on Mac is through cloud gaming.
