Today I want to talk about Peak, a climbing-focused co-op game that dropped on Steam in 2025. It’s chaotic, funny, and surprisingly addictive. Sadly, it’s not available natively on Mac. But I tested some alternative ways to play it – and this page is where I share exactly how that went.

Can You Play Peak on Mac?

Short answer: not directly. Peak doesn’t have a native macOS version, and trying to launch it through Steam on a Mac just won’t work. But that doesn’t mean you’re out of options. I spent a few days diving into different workarounds, and there are three main routes you can take: Boosteroid, CrossOver, and Whisky.

  • Boosteroid is hands-down the easiest and most consistent option. It’s a cloud gaming service, which means you don’t need to install anything complicated or mess with your system. It works on every kind of Mac – Intel or Apple Silicon – and gives you access to Peak with high graphics settings, even if your hardware isn’t beefy. Surprisingly, it doesn’t demand a super strong internet connection either. It just works.
  • CrossOver is a local solution, meaning the game actually runs on your Mac without needing the cloud. It’s more technical, but I got it running pretty well. There were a few bugs at first, but most of them seem to be patched now. If you want to play offline or keep everything local, this is the best bet.
  • Whisky is similar to CrossOver but free. Unfortunately, it’s no longer maintained, so it’s buggy and hit-or-miss. Still, it’s the only free method left – cloud or local – so it might be worth trying if you’re on a tight budget.

Peak on Mac – Conclusion

While Peak doesn’t run natively on Mac, that doesn’t mean you’re locked out. After testing all the main options, I can honestly say there’s a way in for just about everyone – whether you want the simplicity of Boosteroid, the offline reliability of CrossOver, or you’re stubbornly chasing a free solution with Whisky. It took some trial and error, but once it clicked, it was worth it. The game’s a blast, and with the right setup, Mac users can absolutely join the climb.
