TTY switching from desktop?
By ybakos at Sun, Apr 13 2008 1:35pm |
Just wondering if anyone knew of a utility or hack to enable tty-switching from the OS X desktop.
Similar to hitting 'alt-f2' though 'alt-f6' on a unix machine.

Mac is not X11
What you're describing to me is the way to switch from X11 to a terminal login. That doesn't exist on Mac OS X. This isn't an X11 system.
I can think of two other possible things you're trying to do:
1) If you want to allow others to login at the same time as you, go to the "Accounts" in System Preferences. Near the bottom, click on "Login Options" to "Enable fast user switching." This adds a menu at the right side of the menu bar to switch to other users or bring up a login window.
2) You're looking for a full-screen terminal window. You can get this in X11.app. (On Leopard, you will need to install the Xquartz updates.)
Otherwise, it would help if you're a bit more specific in what you want to do.
